Due to user complaints about the smell of smoke, Asus is forced to recall some of its products

ASUS was forced to admit its mistakes and recall some of its products after a wave of complaints from customers that motherboards in their devices began to melt with a characteristic smell of smoke.

The first signals came from social media, with several users reporting their ASUS Z690 Hero motherboards on fire. From these messages it followed that these motherboards, during normal use, began to melt and give off a pungent burning smell. In most cases, it was reported that users on their monitors observed the Bios 53 warning code, which signals a failure to initialize RAM. In a separate case, an actual fire was reported from a computer with an open flame source. Fortunately, in most cases, there was a burning smell and melted motherboard components. Z690 Hero series motherboards are high-end motherboards designed for gaming computers. For reference, a motherboard is the main board of a computer. On which there are slots and connectors for connecting computer components, such as a video card, RAM, processor, data storage devices, and other peripherals. Asus immediately responded to these messages, conducted an internal audit based on the results, which the company confirmed the existence of this problem. Asus has issued a warning on its website that the malfunction may “affect devices manufactured in 2021”. The company has released serial numbers from the problematic batch of motherboards. Motherboard owners can inspect the product packaging to see if their motherboard has a problem with the batch. Customers can also enter their serial number on the Asus website to see if their model is defective. “We recently received reports of incidents with the ROG Maximus Z690 Hero motherboard,” ASUS said. "The issue potentially affects devices manufactured in 2021 with part number 90MB18E0-MVAAY0 and serial numbers starting with MA, MB, or MC." © ARVUTIABI-ESOFT OÜ https://arvuti24.net
